Responsibilities include provide provisioning and programming of telecommunications or network equipment including microwave radios, fiber optic terminals, multiplexers, and network switches. Specify and ordering carrier services from telecommunications providers and phone companies. Responsibilities of this position include the following:Provide functional leadership and technical expertise for engineering team.Act as a subject matter expert, support needs of other business units and provide solutions for solving core and strategic business initiatives. Complete detailed design of telecommunications systems and provide scoping for highly complex projects.Work with external utility, local, county, state and federal agencies to satisfy jurisdictional requirements. Support compliance efforts in support of all WECC, FERC, and NERC requirements pertaining to electronic communications.Take ownership of geographic regions to support business needs, work with limited supervision.Other duties as assigned.Requirements for this position include the following:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a Bachelor's degree. A minimum of two years additional directly related technical experience is required.)Ten years of telecommunications or networking experience.Ability to document design of systems using computer aided drafting program or equivalent software.Expert level knowledge of Telecommunication systems, including but not limited to: Trunking, Circuit Design, Syncronous Optical Networking, Multiplexing, T1. Microwave Radio, and Optical Transmission.Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.Understanding of Electrical Utility operations and circuit requirements. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
